From his “Chance for peace” address in the spring of 1953:

The way chosen by the United States was plainly marked by a few clear precepts, which govern its conduct in world affairs.

First: No people on earth can be held, as a people, to be an enemy, for all humanity shares the common hunger for peace and fellowship and justice.

Second: No nation’s security and well-being can be lastingly achieved in isolation but only in effective cooperation with fellow-nations.

Third: Every nation’s right to a form of government and an economic system of its own choosing is inalienable.

Fourth: Any nation’s attempt to dictate to other nations their form of government is indefensible.

And fifth: A nation’s hope of lasting peace cannot be firmly based upon any race in armaments but rather upon just relations and honest understanding with all other nations.

In the light of these principles the citizens of the United States defined the way they proposed to follow, through the aftermath of war, toward true peace.

Okay, I’m really slow on this one. I had read all of the reviews way back when about this, even tried it out for a bit, but never really gave it a second thought. But then I read a little post from ze frank about how he had new digital photo frame and wanted it to display random peoples photos. This actually sounded like a really cool idea if a little weird.

Not having a digital photo frame I decided upon Windows Media Center through my xbox would do the trick while I did some work this weekend. But how do i get all of those random photos on to media center? Then i remembered FlickrFan which basically lets you subscribe to rss feeds and it will download images in that feed to your hard drive (you can subscribe to a ton of feeds giving you a wide range of photos from friends, random people, or specific tags).

Sure enough, 2 minutes after downloading FlickrFan I had a ton of random photos playing as a slide show on my (Sweet 52″) tv through Media Center. Add a music playlist and you’ve got yourself a nice distraction while coding on your couch.

You really have to tip your hat on this one. Just a fantastic piece of software. Here are a few feeds ive got going right now.

Library of Congress (public domain images rule)
HDR
Boulder Colorado
Milwaukee

BTW, seeing a close up of someones dinner show up on my tv, priceless.

Give it a whirl.

Schaffer worked his way through college as a farm hand, receiving his B.A. from the University of Dayton and an honorary doctorate in management from Colorado Technical University. (emphasis mine, from wikipedia).

Sorry buddy. That school is like a giant black eye to me. Not that I was voting for you anyways, but seeing that just gave me a big laugh. Granted it was the online version of that school that I saw, but none the less, and honorary degree from them really does more harm than good.

Whats even worse. Mr Schaffer likes to call Mark Udall, “Boulder Liberal Mark Udall”, when in fact where did Mr Schaffer announce his candidacy.

On May 9, 2007, Schaffer filed his official statement of candidacy with the Federal Elections Commission. On May 12, 2007, he made an official announcement in Boulder that he would run for U.S. Senate to a group of over 150 Republicans attending a fundraising event.[6]

Fucking douche bag.
